Fashion Jewellery or Special Occasion Jewellery? What is the Difference?

For people who do not have a lot of knowledge about jewellery, but interested in buying some for that special someone, there may be a lot of phrases thrown at you that you may not understand. Two of these phrases are fashion jewellery and special occasion, or occasional jewellery. Though they may look the same, these two jewellery types are very different.

Fashion jewellery, also known as everyday jewellery, is just as it sounds. People wear this type of jewellery on a daily basis. It tends to be less expensive than other types of jewellery which means people are more comfortable wearing it every day, out in public, even if you wouldn’t wear very expensive jewellery in certain situations. Sterling silver jewellery is a great example of the fashion type of jewellery. Though it looks just like silver or white gold, for instead, sterling silver jewellery is much less expensive and you will find that it is also more durable than regular silver jewellery.

Occasional jewellery is jewellery that you would wear occasionally or for special occasions. These are the pieces that are more expensive like diamonds, pure gold or silver jewellery. Though you will, of course, find that they are worth more, they are less durable and if you lose these items, unless they are insured, you could lose something valuable forever.

Both types of jewellery are great to have and many people prefer a nice mix. It is important to realise that the fashion type of jewellery can be a great alternative to wearing expensive and valuable jewellery you may not want to lose.
